Chatting on Instagram Live by James Whitaker

James Whitaker Instagram Live ArchitectureChat Poster.jpg

Hello fellow quarantiners!

The instagram page @architecturechat have invited me to chat/give a lecture on their Instagram live feed, so on Friday morning at 10am (here in sunny London) I'm going to do just that. Whoop! Taking advantage of the more personal nature of a webchat rather than a big lecture theatre it could be a great opportunity to answer some questions, chat about my projects and tell some entertaining tales. So send me your questions and I'll see what I can answer…

Crazy About Porsche by James Whitaker

Whitaker Studio - Modern Living

It’s lovely to be in another book and this week’s weighty coffee table number is devoted to fans of Porsches (and, so by extension, good design).

Whilst artists work from the real to the abstract, architects must work from the abstract to the real. Architecture, beneath all its limitations of engineering, safety, function, climate and economy, arouse us with designs in space and light achieved in the abstract.

57'10 Podcast by James Whitaker

57’10’s podcast is out featuring the interview that they recorded with me back in November last year. We chatted about all sorts of things, ranging from my experience of working at Heatherwick Studio, what grand tour I would recommend for students on their summer holidays, and the role computer generated images play in my work. It was lovely chatting so hopefully it makes enjoyable listening!

There are some other interesting podcasts in their series so be sure to explore their back catalogue.

The Most Popular Story on Dezeen in 2017 by James Whitaker

This is a pretty nice piece of news to end the year with - Joshua Tree was the most popular article on Dezeen in 2017 (the world's most influential architecture and design magazine).

It's also been an exciting year for lots of my friends too, who are producing some brilliant work in their various fields. I hope you are all having a lovely holiday and can't wait to see where 2018 takes us all!

Happy New Year,

James
